Big Hero 6 Review by Winnie Huang

Taking place in the futuristic city of San Fransokyo (a blend between the cities of San Francisco and Tokyo), live a brilliant teenage boy named Hiro Hamada (voiced by Ryan Potter). After the death of his brother Tadashi, Hiro discovers the robot Tadashi has been working on at school. Tadashi had created a inflatable healthcare robot named Baymax, built with a “non threatening huggable design”. Together Hiro and Baymax along with Tadashi’s friend from “nerd school”, goes on an adventure to fight the mysterious supervillain that was using Hiro’s invention (Microbots) for evil.

It’s been a while since Disney released a good movie. Looking back on 2014, Big Hero 6 was probably one of my favorite animated movie of that year. Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, ‘Big Hero 6’ was released in October 25 of 2014. And It was their first film featuring a Marvel superhero team. Wait, did I just say Marvel? Well turns out Big Hero 6 was a Marvel comic book team. Seeing elements of Marvel in Disney is totally awesome, and not to mention Stan Lee’s animated cameo at the end was amazing. After watching the movie, my inner child got so excited I almost pooped my pants. It was funny, exciting and basically everything a 10 year-old boy could ever dream of in a movie. A kid with cool hair goes around saving his city with his giant cute, inflatable robot that could also fly, shoot fists and do karate, how cool could it possibly get? Not to mention his scientist friends each with their cool gadgets and suits.

I love the characters in this movie, they were all made very likeable and hilarious. Hiro was definitely a relatable character, and that really appealed to the viewers. But it was Baymax that really made this movie successful, the character was funny and just makes everyone happy. Although the movie was totally different from the comics, it didn’t bother viewers all that much, mainly because not alot of people heard of it before, including me. I can’t say this was the best animated movie ever, I mean there were things that I didn’t quite like about this film, but overall it was a fun movie to watch I definitely enjoyed it. I really recommend watching it if you haven’t already
