The Matrix Review by Daghan Dalgic

What if your whole life was a virtual reality? The Matrix is a movie about the human race being imprisoned in a virtual reality and used as batteries for robots. A hacker learns about the reality by a resistance group and joins in the fight against the controllers.

This movie stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving. Reeves fits perfectly for the main role and all the performances in the movie became icons in pop culture.

This is a masterfully crafted movie.  I have never been more affected by a movie as much as this; sleeping became a horrible activity after I saw this movie. The unique plot is a true mind-blower, the effects were phenomenal for the 1990's and who can possibly forget the incredible fighting sequences. There are many scenes and quotes that became classics in movie history. The Wachowskis really outdo themselves with this piece.

There is nothing bad that I can say about this movie, except the sequels, which do not exist if you ask me and I will not talk anymore about that. The Matrix is a great example of a philosophical science fiction movie and is a must see. It is one of the gems of the year 1999, which is a great year for film.

Overall score: 10/10
