Kill Bill Vol. 2 Review by Ammar Akhtar

Kill Bill Vol. 2 stars Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, and Daryl Hannah. It is directed by Quentin Tarantino. “The Bride” is back in this continuation of her quest to kill all assassins responsible for the bloody wedding day. She must find and kill Budd, Elle and the one who devised the whole plan, Bill.

First up, let me talk about the action in this movie. The way Tarantino decided to do the action sequences was a great choice both in the first and second one. What I just adore about Quentin Tarantino is that he is not afraid of doing exaggerated action. What I mean by that is using a TON of blood, cutting of limbs and taking peoples eyes out. That’s right. Taking peoples eyes out. Awesome, right?

The characters in this film were done really well. David Carradine as Bill was a great job, but I thought it might have been cool to see Samuel L. Jackson as Bill. We finally see what Bill looks like and why he decided to kill The Brides entire world. Another great character was Uma Thurman as The Bride. She does a great job in her performance. In the first one, we saw her kick some booootayyyy. However, in this one, she does go through more suffering and obstacles. For this reason, I think there was less action, but that isn’t a bad thing. Seeing her go through her problems was a great idea. It brought her down to a level similar to when she was helpless at the wedding. All the other minor characters, like the assassins, do a great job. I loved the ninja master The Bride was trained from.

Something that Quentin Tarantino did in both films that I thought was a great choice was not revealing the main characters name. This makes her more of a hero. With some superheroes, the average citizens do not know who this masked man is. Not knowing her name makes the audience feel the same as the citizens. We are rooting for an actual superhero. Eventually, we do learn her real name, which was fine and was revealed at the right time.

What really makes this film truly special is that it’s completely original. The whole story was created by Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman. These days, it seems that everything is based on some book or movie. Barely ever is there something completely original from an actual person. What these two created was just amazing. They created one badaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzz story.

Overall, I loved this film. It’s one of Tarantino’s greatests. I’ve heard that their making a third one. I don’t know what they would do, but i’m sure it would be awesome.

MY SCORE: 10/10
