Hugo Review by Daghan Dalgic

Hugo is a masterpiece that truly presents the power of cinema. It is about an orphan who spends his time trying to find his purpose in life. I would not call this the best Martin Scorsese movie I have ever seen because Goodfellas has a special place in my heart but Hugo is the most heart-filled and vulnerable movie that he has ever done. Even after watching this movie several times, my eyes are always full of tears.

This movie has the best child actors I have ever seen. Asa Butterfield and Chloe Grace Moretz are wonderful. Ben Kingsley steals every scene he is in and has a jaw-dropping performance in this movie, there is no other way of saying it. Sacha Baron Cohen surprised me in this movie, at first I didn't know what I thought about his accent but this was his best performance in a movie.

I walked into the theater, not having seen a trailer, poster or the IMDb page so I was shocked to see the moviemaker George Melies in the movie and the productions of the first movies. This movie was truly a love letter to cinema. It is so beautifully shot and an incredible journey. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

Cinema at its best.
