'Tomorrowland' Review by Ammar Akhtar

Tomorrowland stars Britt Robertson, George Clooney and Hugh Laurie. Tomorrowland is about a young girl who finds a pin which transports her to a glorious and futuristic place. To find out why this happens, she ends up alongside a former boy genius. Together, the both try to find the city of tomorrow, Tomorrowland.

I've heard mixed feelings from numerous people. Some say it's great and others don't like it all. However, I thought it was a glorious adventure.

Towards the beginning and middle of the movie, Tomorrowland seemed to be something different compared to all the other blockbuster movies that have come out in recent years. The idea of having the greatest people come together sounds so spectacular to my ears, and I think they told this in the best way possible. It's all very original and I applaud the writers for creating something we've never seen before. Whenever I go to Disney World, Tomorrowland has always struck my mind due to it's futuristic setting. I think they captured the magic of Tomorrowland that we see in the parks and put it into this movie.

All the main characters in the movie are so interesting due to their innovative minds that allows them to travel to Tomorrowland. George Clooney plays a man who's had a rather disappointing life. I don't want to say too much as it will spoil the movie, but he did a fantastic job. Britt Robertson's character has a mind that's needed as she displays scientific opinions that are so different from everyone else's. There was also a young girl in the movie as well, and she's really the "key" that hooks everyone together for this ride. Again, I don't want to spoil too much, but she did a fantastic job. It's very rare to find good child actors these days as most of them are horrible.

If you were reading closely, notice how I said "beginning and middle" only in the third paragraph. That's because the ending completely threw out what I found so intriguing about Tomorrowland, which was the idea of bringing the best together. It focused more about saving humanity and how we all need to preserve it, which was fine, but I would've liked to see them focus more on the goal of this grand place. It's meant to create a better tomorrow, but the ending didn't really feel that way. It was more like a superhero movie, in which we must save the civilians from catastrophe. I understand the message they were trying to get across, but it didn't really fit with this movie.

As a whole, Tomorrowland was a magnificent idea that played out well on screen. All of the characters are very interesting and were portrayed well by their actors. However, the story began to fall apart towards the end as it focused more on humanity rather than the "dreamers". It was alright, but if they tweaked it to tie it in with what this city's purpose is, the movie could've been significantly better. Overall, this is a great movie that you should watch. I was very disappointed to see it fail at the box office in the U.S.

MY SCORE: 8.5/10
