The Maze Runner stars Dylan O'Brian, Will Poulter and Kaya Scodelario. It's directed by Wes Ball. IMDb synopsis: Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they're all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow "runners" for a shot at escape.
This is another attempt at bringing a teen novel to the big screen. The real question is if it has a shot at becoming the next Hunger Games or Harry Potter. I don't think it will become as popular as these 2 movies, but it's still not a bad movie.
I thought the acting was good. The main character did a good job. Mostly all of the other boys did a good job. The one that stood out was Will Poulter's character. He did a good job as a villain and was probably the best acted boy in the film. There was also one girl in the film. She did a good job as well.
Most of the action sequences were pretty intense. They were not bad at all. They were probably one of the best qualities of the film. They were really well done and made the film very enjoyable. I was almost on the edge of my seat.
Before I watched this film, I had heard many bad things about it's ending. It's definitely a negative of the film. I think it's a failed attempt at making more money. They are just trying to make this the next teen movie franchise. I won't spoil too much, but I left the theater a bit disappointed by the ending. It didn't make the film terrible and poopy, but it was just a disappointment.
Overall, the film as a whole is average. If your looking for a new film to watch in this slow month, you should give The Maze Runner a chance. It's not a bad movie, but the ending was a bit disappointing. Everything before that was good and I think you will enjoy it.
MY SCORE: 6/10
