The Judge Review by Ammar Akhtar

The Judge stars Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. It's about a lawyer Hank Palmer, who is forced to go back to his hometown where his dad is being accused of murder, but Hank and his father don't get along very well.

the Judge had some excellent acting. Both Robert's did a fantastic job. Their performances felt very much real. Out of the two, I think Robert Duvall was slightly better. Downey Jr. was very great though.

That being said, this film does have a bit of issues. One was it's originality. I wouldn't consider this to be "new" because I think this type of story has been done before. Some scenes also felt very cliche. The ones with the family was not different at all. They've been done before many times.

Also, the film did slow down at points. It was mainly when everyone was not in court. The scenes where we see the family and Hank's father was slow. However, the courtroom scenes were very interesting. They were one of the good parts of the film, but were not there for very long. We only saw very few of those scenes. Adding more would have made the film's pace a bit faster and more interesting.

We saw a romance building between Hank and his longtime friend, Samantha. This didn't really connect to the central story at all, and most of the scenes with the two felt very cheesy. There was no point in adding this, and removing it would have made any difference in the movie.

Overall, The Judge is not a great film, but it's worth watching. It has some very important views on family and how they should stay together. Although most scenes did feel cliche, it had some heartfelt moments.

MY SCORE: 7/10
