'Terminator Genisys' Review by Daghan Dalgic

'Terminator Genisys' tells the story of Kyle Reese who is sent to protect John Connor's mother because the Terminators have sent a killer back in time. I have honestly spent a strangely long time trying to summarise this movie. It has the most plot holes I have seen in any movie. It also tries to be so much more than what it really is. It's like someone took all the movie pitches for a Terminator sequel and combined it into one movie. As a kid, ever tried to mix every color on the pallete and you get this weird brown color? That color is the plot of this movie.

Every action sequence in this movie has been somewhat done in another movie. It's pitifully unoriginal. The scenes with Arnold interacting with people were more fun than the action sequences. The visual effects were nowhere near good. More than a decade after the first 'Terminator' film, how is it possible that the effects haven't gotten better?

It is very hard to talk about the acting in the movie because all of the characters have no dimension, so how is it possible to judge an actor for an empty role. The character with the most depth was Arnold and he played a robot. Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke give an alright performance with their shallow roles. And, J.K. Simmons is totally wasted.

We have learnt from the 'Star Wars' prequels that if a sequel or prequel is not complimentary to the originals, we can just ignore it and keep enjoying the originals. But, this one is just a huge betrayal to the source and it even ruins the sequels because guess what? More than half the timeline is changed.

Left and right, the movie is stuffed with a reference, nod or stupid jokes. It is pretty pathetic. The dialogue as seen in the trailer is just laughable. If you are feeling like laughing at a heartless movie this weekend, 'Terminator Genisys' is for you.

I would write that you have to turn you brain off to enjoy this movie, but is this is what Hollywood has become? We have to not analyse a film to enjoy it? The days of meaningful and good quality action movies are really over. It is very rare that we are going to get another 'Matrix', 'Terminator: Judgement Day' or 'Die Hard'. What do you think? Let us know in the comments and let's discuss.
