Frank Review by Ammar Akhtar

Frank stars Domnhall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scott McNairy and Michael Fassbender. It is directed by Lenny Abrahamson. IMDb synopsis: Jon, a young wanna-be musician, discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew when he joins an eccentric pop band led by the mysterious and egnimatic Frank.

I've seen a lot of films, but I like the ones that are different than what you would expect. I liked the film Snowpiercer because of this reason. This can also apply to Frank. It's quirky, funny, weird and dramatic. This is a perfect blend for a great movie.

First of all, I need to discuss about Michael Fassbender as Frank. He does an excellent job. Frank is this really weird and funny dude. I mean he wears a mask! But Michael Fassbender adds these elements to his character by his great acting. The actual character Frank is also pretty mysterious. Again, he wears a MASK all the time!! That's pretty strange! I thought the way they handled his back story was fantastic. We find out answers to his history and why he wears the mask. The other actors did a good job. Fassbender is the one who stood the most to me though.

One element I really liked about the film was the humor. The jokes in the film were great. I was laughing a lot. There a bit weird, but hilarious! Fassbender's character is the funniest yet weirdest character i've seen in a while. The way he acted and his songs were weird, but still very funny. I was really entertained by him.

Another noteworthy element of the film was originality. I haven't really seen anything like this movie the whole year. It's great story, excellent character and humor really made the film stand out from others that have come out this year. I really like that. It's good to see some fresh ideas being made into movies!

Overall, I had a fun time with the film. The character Frank is unlike any other. He's weird and hilarious! The great story and humor made the film special and strong. I strongly suggest you check this one out. It's available to rent on iTunes right now.

MY SCORE: 8.5/10
