Last week, the world lost one of the greatest actors of our time. With a career lasting longer than 30 years, Alan Rickman has given life to some of the most memorable characters. In his honor, we rank his best performances. We will pick only one of the 'Harry Potter' movies for the sake of variety.
5. Sheriff George, 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'
Rickman once again plays a cold blooded villain in this Kevin Costner classic. With a very charismatic look, the Sheriff's line "carve his heart out with a spoon" is the most memorable line of the film.
4. Alexander Dane, 'Galaxy Quest'
In one of his lighter roles, Alexander Dane is probably the most beloved character of the 1999 sci-fi comedy. His fan favorite line is "By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Warvan, you shall be avenged!"
3. Judge Turpin, 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'
Opposite of Johnny Depp, fans of Rickman would have never guessed that he would be a great singer too. What is this guy not good at?! Rickman once again plays a villain in which he falsely convicts Sweeney Todd.
2. Hans Gruber, 'Die Hard'
Making his acting debut, Rickman plays one of the best villains in an action movie opposite of Bruce Willis. For his death scene, the story goes Rickman thought he would be dropped onto an air bag on the count of three, but the crew let go on count two for a genuine surprised reaction.
1. Severus Snape, 'Harry Potter' Franchise
"Always." Alan Rickman is most famous for his role of Professor Snape. He has touched lives of all ages with his complex character portrayal. The last movie that reveals Snape's past made him one of if not the best character in the 'Harry Potter' franchise.
