Eminem is singer/rapper that whether you like him or not, you can’t help but loving the emotion and heart he puts into his work and his movie is no exception. Eminem has only done one movie, but it had the emotion and depth of all the Twilight movies put together. The movie he both stared in and wrote was called 8 Mile and was all about his life as a local, misunderstand, up and coming young rapper in his home town. Not only does Slim Shady rap incredibly in the movie, but he also acts brilliantly, likely because he is drawing from his own experiences. Hopefully we’ll get to see some more of Eminem on the big screen.
4. David Bowie
David Bowie has been in a few movies and guest stared in several TV shows. His most famous movies are most likely The Man Who Fell To Earth, and The Labyrinth. The Man Who Fell To Earth already has a review posted in the Throwback section of our website, however, it is simply about an Alien who comes down to earth to get water for his family and planet. The Labyrinth is about a mystical, magical land with muppet like creature. Sarah, a 15 year old girl, wishes her half-brother Toby away to the Goblin King Jareth. Sarah tries to retrieve him, but she must complete Goblin King’s labrynth in thirteen hours, or he will keep Toby. In both movies, David Jones (David Bowie’s real name) acts very well and certainly embraces his character as himself to play each role. And of course, he’s an amazing singer.
3. Jamie Foxx
Jamie Fox, as we all know has written and sung many songs, but he has also played many great roles in movies, such as President Soyer in Olympus Has Fallen, Django in Django Unchained and Electro in The Amazing Spider Man 2 (which is also reviewed on our website). In these movies he played both roles extremely well. However, it was certainly clear that he had improved very much since Olympus Has Fallen. In the Spider Man movie his character was developed and realistic (despite being a fictional character) and this was all down to Fox’s superb acting skills.
2. Ice Cube
Straight outta Compton! Ice Cube is “back in the day” rapper with an attitude, and it shows in his acting. He is most well-known for his role in 21 and 22 Jump Street as a stereotypical black police captain. He has also played in Are We There Yet and Are We done Yet. In all these movies his acting was decent at least. He is certainly an actor with a future ahead in cinema, and I can’t wait to see him back on the big screen showing off his talent.
1. Mark Walberg
Yes, that’s right! Mark, known as Marky Mark back in is hip hop/rap days, has played in MANY movies, varying from thriller’s to action films and is clearly an amazing actor. He played in the original Planet of The Apes, Pain and Gain, and the Fighter (which will have a review sooner or later!) however he is perhaps most well known (at least by our generation) for the latest Transformers movie. In terms of music, Marky Mark is most well know for his hip hop group called Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, who wrote such songs as Wildside and the ever so famous You Gotta Believe It. I’ll be honest, he was all that good at rapping, but I’m sure we can all agree he is one of the most influential actors (and directors) in the film world today.
